General Science Fiction Rules Empty
PostSubject: General Science Fiction Rules   General Science Fiction Rules EmptyMon Oct 09, 2017 9:16 am

1. Timeline
There are no specific timelines. This means you can set your threads whenever you want. We, therefore, request that you please label the start of each thread with the timeline the thread is set in.

When labeling, be sure to include their age for reference.

Examples of labels would be:

January || 20
First Week of November; 14
December 28 || 26
Halloween; 19

However, we do ask that you stay within the age you have chosen for your character, with the exception of single flashback threads, which should be written in the specific area. (If your character is 19 please don't write a thread in which they are 15, except in the flashback area. See 2. for more information.)

2. Character Age
Since there are no specific timelines, please note that you are allowed to 'age up' your character when you please, within reason.

Having said that, this should not be abused; while you are allowed to change the age of your character, we ask that you actually spend time exploring them during this age before changing it.

We will be monitoring this and constant changing of age will not be permitted.

3. Creatures and Species
Since this is a general Science Fiction section and not any one specific fandom, we ask that you refrain from making characters from a race or species that is specific to a particular fandom.

For example, Yeerks (from Animorphs), Time Lords (from Doctor Who), or Reavers (from Firefly) are all science fiction creatures. However, since they are specific to their fandom (you won’t find Yeerks in Firefly, or Time Lords in Star Trek), you cannot make them.

You may borrow traits or get inspiration from established fandoms, but direct copies are not allowed. (You cannot, for example, make a character exactly like a Time Lord and call them a Time Traveler. You may use similar characteristics or traits, as long as they’re not exactly the same.)

4. Abilities and Claims
There are many abilities unique to alien species. We accept and allow almost any kind.

Please include a link to the description of your character’s ability. You may use this site, but it’s not compulsory; any site will do. Ensure it is an ability that is accepted in a science fiction setting. If you aren’t sure or can’t find a link to the ability you want, contact an admin for help.

There are no limits to ability or power claims. However, if we feel that a character is too over powered (OP) because of them, we may have to request that you either remove it or tone down your character's use of it. We may also deny claims if we feel that it is too OP.

As always, general RP and site rules apply. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask an admin or moderator. Enjoy! Smile
